Implementing Network Operations Management Setup for Customer - Microland Opensource Service Management Platform |
| Description: |
Worked towards creating a Service Automation Platform for the Network Operations Management Setup for Customer which is supported by the open-source network management tool OpenNMS. This stands on PostgreSQL which is the back-end database; and the performance data is collected in RRD format (Round Robin Database) using JRobin (Java based RRD implementation). The Service Automation platform is coded in JAVA and JSP. The fault management is primarily handled using syslog messages which are correlated using the open source Perl utility SEC (Simple Event Correlation). The error messages from OpenNMS are also correlated using SEC and ticket logging is done using sendmail by sending mails to Kintana Workflow Management (Mercury Interactive). Further to this, the integration involved parsing asset database information by retrieving it using perl scripts from web pages, to display the same information in a single screen of Service Automation Platform. I started off as a team member for this project specializing in the Network Monitoring Tool; but as the project reached its final stages, became the Acting Team Lead. |
